Acorn, Wales's largest recruitment and training company, has launched a new Human Resources division, as part of its latest expansion drive.
The division is headed by Pat Kiely, formerly HR Director for UK Operations at EADS Defence & Communications Systems. One of the UK's leading HR professionals, he previously held senior positions at EADS Telecom, Nortel Networks and Panasonic (Matsushita Electronic UK).
The new division will offer expert personnel management support to UK businesses and builds on Acorn's recent launch in collaboration with The Chamber of Commerce of the new South Wales HR Network.
Matt Southall, Managing Director of Acorn, said, "This new division is a natural extension of the range of employment services now provided by Acorn in Wales and many other regions of the UK.
"It has been launched in response to the increasing number of companies and organisations that are seeking specialist HR support. Some want to outsource the majority of their HR operations, others require a bolt-on to their existing department.
"In Pat Kiely, we have one of the UK's foremost HR professionals who will use his experience and expertise to grow the division in the years ahead."
The full range of HR Development Services will be provided by the division. Typical services would include: Review/development of policies/procedures/processes; career management; opinion surveys; communications; issues management; compensation and benefit programmes; organisation change and development. We offer the full range of support, from defining requirement to developing/designing a solution, to implementation to evaluation. Pat Kiely said, "HR outsourcing is required because a growing business needs the full range of HR management expertise but often does not have the volume of personnel management work to cost-justify a full in-house service. By using our services, a company knows they have all they need on-tap, without the expense of an HR manager and support and facilities they require.
"Acorn has presented me with a tremendous personal opportunity to lead this new division. It is a business I have watched develop in recent years and earn the respect of employers across a range of disciplines. The company continues to expand and I am delighted to be part of it."
Acorn reported a turnover of almost £40m in 2004/05 and earlier this year entered into a long-term partnership with leading European recruitment company Synergie of France to increases sales to £100m by 2009.
