Acorn’s Senior Executive Search Division was contracted on an exclusive basis to source an experienced Finance Director for Nodor International, a Bridgend-based manufacturing company.
The referral came through a recommendation from a leading firm of accountants who had suggested that the team at Acorn would be best-placed to help manage the recruitment.
The successful applicant, who would work alongside the Senior Management Team and report directly to the Managing Director, needed the experience required to contribute to strategic and operational company management whilst also holding personality traits that would fit with Nodor International’s corporate ethos.
To provide Nodor International with effective results, Paul and his team spent time with Vince Bluck, Nodor’s Managing Director, to understand the essential job and business needs. Research was carried out to ensure the job package was competitive within their field and to guarantee that we would attract leading finance professionals.
Using the most up-to-date attraction methods, including the use of Acorn’s candidate database, professional job boards, social media platforms, targeted networking, and on the basis of Acorn’s reputation within the field, Acorn quickly attracted over 50 applications, which were then narrowed down to a shortlist of six strong candidates.
Nodor were delighted with the short-list agreed, suggesting indeed that they could have comfortably recruited all shortlisted candidates; however, they were only looking to recruit one individual and so they decided to appoint the successful candidate on the basis of his particular prior experience and enthusiasm for the role.
Throughout the process, communication was key to keep Nodor and all potential candidates up-to-date, and as a result of the success of this placement and the ease of the recruitment process, Acorn’s Global Division has also received some further work from Nodor, and is now seeking an ex-pat General Manager for the company’s Kenyan factory base.
Vince Bluck, Nodor’s Managing Director, said: “we contacted Acorn on the grounds of their reputation and experience for recruiting at senior level to see if they could source a Finance Director for us. Throughout the recruitment process, Paul and his team put us at ease by keeping in regular contact with us. I trusted them with this assignment and the shortlist of candidates they provided us with was outstanding. It is a pleasure to work with Acorn.”
Wade Mears, Nodor International’s newly appointed Finance Director, added: “Paul and his team provided a premier recruitment service. This was a vital move for my family and I, and I really appreciated the support they gave and the regular updates.”
