Acorn celebrates birthday with new charity campaign launch
ACORN, one of the UK’s leading recruitment and training company marks its birthday this month (MAY) with the launch of a new appeal to support NSPCC.
ACORN is celebrating its 17th birthday with staff raffles and party games to raise money for the NSPCC’s Child’s Voice Appeal.
The Newport-based company with offices across the UK was named the first corporate patron for NSPCC Cymru/Wales back in 2005 and has already raised more than £48,000 for the children’s charity..
In celebrating the company’s 17th birthday, Acorn will be focusing its charitable efforts on backing the NSPCC’s Child Voice Appeal, a campaign to help expand and develop the charity’s helplines; the NSPCC Helpline, for adults with concerns about the welfare of a child and ChildLIne,, the UK’s free 24-hour confidential helpline for children and young people who need to talk.
Acorn’s marketing manager Sarah Griffiths said: “We have enjoyed 17 years of supporting charity and community initiatives for both local and national causes.
“The Child’s Voice Appeal is such a worthwhile cause and we are delighted to be supporting it.
“Staff in all of our 32 branches will be taking part in a series of upcoming events including a birthday raffle and an e-pass-the-parcel. Some of our staff have also expressed an interest in becoming ChildLine volunteers.”
Bridget Stadden, NSPCC corporate fundraising manager said: “We are thrilled that Acorn is focusing on raising funds for the NSPCC’s Child’s Voice Appeal. Every day, thousands of children and young people need to talk to ChildLine about a problem they face. Hundreds of caring adults call the NSPCC Helpline, worried about a child’s safety. Every time a caller doesn’t speak to a counsellor, a child’s safety may be at risk.
We want to ensure we answer all cries for help at whatever time day or night they come in, so through the Child’s Voice Appeal, our aim is to raise £50 million nationally over the next three years to continue to run and grow our helpline services.
Acorn, which has its UK headquarters at the Celtic Springs Business Park, Newport, also took part in Real Radio’s recent ‘bring a pound to work’ day when staff raised over £125 for the NSPCC’s Childline service.
