Neil Advances recruitment company

Leading North West recruitment agency Advance, which is part of the Acorn Group,  has transformed its Stoke-on-Trent branch – thanks to the newest addition to their expanding team.

Neil Pickup started as manager of the branch earlier this year and together with the existing team of expert consultants has dramatically expanded the business; gaining major clients including International logistics company DHL.

The Acorn Group, which includes Advance, Acorn and Concept Staffing, finds work for up to 5,500 people each week across the UK. Neil, who started working for the specialist UK labour supplier two years ago as business development manager for the Crewe branch, has been in the recruitment industry for eight years.

Neil, 38, said: “I used to work in warehousing and logistics but after being made redundant I was offered a job in recruitment – so rather than choosing the industry, it chose me.

“Clearly the downturn in the economy is providing recruitment with some interesting and exciting challenges. But I believe that in any situation like this there are always excellent opportunities for quality companies to grow, and I feel privileged to have been chosen to help drive Advance forward.”

The Stoke-on-Trent branch, based in Hanley has a combined turnover with the Acorn Group of £21million.

Alison Broderick, Advance Personnel Director of Operations, said: “Neil and his team have done a fantastic job to develop Advance and create a larger client base.

“We are currently witnessing unprecedented challenges across the UK recruitment industry and, although in 2008 Acorn achieved its record turnover – thanks in part to the excellent results achieved by Advance.

“Neil’s contribution to the company will be a vital factor in not only sustaining business at current levels, but particularly in expanding the company as a whole.”

Advance operates from a number of locations throughout the region, specialising in providing temporary and permanent blue collar staff and the recruitment of international labour.
