Zurich see their first Financial Services Apprentices qualify
The first people in Zurich, one of the country’s largest insurance companies, to undergo a new industry-driven insurance apprenticeship have qualified at their Cardiff location.
Acorn , the only CII accredited training provider of financial services apprenticeships in Wales has presented Zurich employees Natasha Ryan, Emma Manderson and Kanta Halai with their new credentials.
The apprenticeships, part financed by the European Social Fund through the Welsh Assembly Government and endorsed by the Financial Services Sector Skills Council (FSSC), usually on average take 12 months to complete and were delivered on-site by Acorn. Successfully completing the qualification demonstrates the learner’s competence and knowledge in the insurance industry via a mix of assessments, workshops, observation and real work examples.
Head of Corporate Development for Acorn , Ann Mc Connon, said: “We’d like to congratulate Natasha, Emma and Kanta on becoming the first learners in Zurich to complete their apprenticeship. We have 20 other apprentices at Zurich on the programme at the moment and all are also on track to complete later this year.
“Despite the fantastic feedback from current learners, Zurich is one of only a small number of companies in Wales that currently offer insurance apprenticeships to their staff. It may be that businesses are not aware that this opportunity exists or perhaps there is not an understanding of the huge benefit that apprenticeships can offer. Either way, I would seriously encourage anyone interested to pick up the phone and give us a call.”
Emma Manderson, Sales & Service Consultant, Zurich said “The various elements of the apprenticeship all related to insurance is great and I enjoyed the training, particularly for the the IF1 which is an industry specific qualification I scored 93% and completed my full apprenticeship in March 2010. The IF1 has helped improve my knowledge of insurance and how the industry works a great deal and improved the way I take calls from customers. The NVQ customer service element within the apprenticeship has made me think a bit more about how I deal with people and my quality of service”
Acorn is a leading provider of training, learning and development solutions, and trains more than a 1000 individuals each month. As well as offering apprenticeships across a wide range of work based subjects they can also create bespoke training programmes to suit any business.
