ambitious Acorn plans for the future

Acorn, Wales’s leading recruitment and training company, has reacted to continuing business growth by strengthening several of its divisions.
The £42m-a-year company, which employs more than 220 staff, has strengthened its head office teams as well as its burgeoning branch network in recent weeks.
South African Ryan Aingworth, who joined Acorn’s Newport branch on a temporary basis last summer, has been appointed Industrial Consultant at the Newport city centre branch. A Newport cricketer, he has joined one of the company’s busiest desks.
Andrew Putterill has been appointed head office-based Construction Consultant. He moved into recruitment more than two years ago after several years in the motor and finance industries.
He has been appointed to deal with technical, supervisory and management staff in the construction sector, both permanent and contract. He has joined Acorn from Rockall Recruitment.
Neil Hinton has joined the company as In-house Designer responsible for the delivery of Acorn’s in-house design and production service for all communications and promotional activities.
He has joined from Caerphilly County Borough Council where he was a web/graphic designer within the Communications Unit. Neil has more than five years’ experience of developing design solutions across a wide range of media.
Victoria Merryfield has joined Acorn as Marketing Executive, responsible for general administrative and other support to marketing and communications functions including PR and events, advertising and promotions, marketing development and communications planning and implementation.
Prior to joining the company Victoria worked for several years in the National Health Service.
Lucy Morgan has been appointed receptionist/administrator at the firm’s recently opened Gloucester branch. She has worked in recruitment previously; she lived in Plymouth for 8 months and worked for Pertemps as an admin/receptionist.
Communication and Media Studies Graduate Annette Trapp has been appointed Industrial Consultant at the branch in Thornbury, Bristol, where her responsibility will be to contribute to the already successful industrial desk and further expanding the client base.
Matt Southall, Managing Director of Acorn, said, “It is great to see so many young and enthusiastic professionals opt for a career with Acorn. We’ve made huge strides in recent years but our future growth depends on attracting and retaining good people like these.
“We are always on the look-out for people that can bring a new dimension to what we offer, who are either experienced or very willing to learn.”
Since forming a partnership with one of Europe’s largest recruitment companies, Synergie of France, Acorn has embarked on an expansion programme aimed at creating a £100m-a-year business by 2009.
