Lisa lands seat on Merthyr Tydfil County Borough Council

Acorn Learning & Development Division’s Head of Quality Lisa Mytton is among a raft of new councillors elected at the recent England and Wales district council elections.
Lisa has secured a seat as an Independent Councillor on Merthyr Tydfil County Borough Council’s Vaynor Ward.
She was one of two independent councillors to achieve success in the ward, fighting off a challenge from three other candidates.
“It’s a great honour to have been successful. It is a ward and a county borough with many challenges, but we are ready and able to meet them head on,” said Lisa, 37, who has lived in the area all her life.
As well as sitting on the full Council, Lisa has become a member of the Authority’s Integrated Children’s Services Committee, utilising her many years’ experience in the learning and development sector.
Lisa, who has worked at Acorn head office, Newport, for more than five years, said she was drawn to politics after spending several years as a community volunteer in her neighbourhood.
“I recognised that people wanted changes made to their community and decided the best way to help them was to secure a position of real influence,” added Lisa.
