In celebration of our 30th birthday, we caught up with our Group Head of HR, Emily Meredith to talk about her time at Acorn 

What was your first position at Acorn?

I started at Acorn nearly 18 years ago, a couple of years after finishing uni. I started as a HR Administrator and did my CIPD level 7 qualification. I have done every HR job; Officer, Advisor, Manager and now Head of HR!

How has the company changed during your time here?

Acorn has been through many changes over the years; periods of growth & acquisition and periods of uncertainty with the financial crisis and COVID pandemic. We are currently going through a period of change, with a new MD at the helm; with exciting growth plans and some great new people initiatives on the horizon.

What has been your favourite thing about working at Acorn?

I love the fact that no 2 days are the same and despite being here 18 years, I learn something new every day!

What advice / words of wisdom would you give to new starters?

I would advise all new starters to grab every learning opportunity, be the best you can be and always look to continuously improve the way you do things. If you are passionate, creative & innovative, you will have a great career.

What are you most looking forward to about Acorn’s future?
