Acorn, one of the South West’s leading recruitment and training agencies has announced North Devon Hospice as their lead charity for 2017.
Acorn, a specialist recruitment company with over 30 branches and on-site locations in the South West and throughout the UK, is already well-known for their commitment to both local and national charities for the last 25 years, and now for 2017, the Barnstaple branch has decided to dedicate all their fundraising efforts to the North Devon Hospice; an extremely worthy charity who raise vital funds and provide care, support and information to patients and families affected by cancer and other life limiting illnesses in the region.
Jessica Williams, Branch Team Leader, said: “We are delighted to be able to support North Devon Hospice by organising and taking part in a number of fundraising events this year. The hospice provides invaluable support to the North Devon community on a daily basis and so naturally we want to do everything we can to help.
“As a business within North Devon, we have professional and personal relationships with the hospice, and we therefore see first-hand how hard everyone works to make a difference. The charity needs to raise millions each year in order to keep its vital services going.”
The first fundraising event the Branch is set to take part in will be the Bideford Half Marathon on 5th March, which Jessica Williams will be running.
Then, on the 20th of May, staff will join in Nightwalk; a ladies-only, moonlit, sponsored walk, followed by Mission Unbreakable; a muddy military-themed obstacle course in October. The branch’s fundraising efforts will culminate in a colossal Christmas fundraiser.
Kate Kilburn, Community & Event Fundraiser for North Devon Hospice, added: “The hospice is extremely grateful to Jessica and her team at Acorn’s Barnstaple Branch for choosing to support our charity this year.
It is heartwarming that such a well-known local business is able to help us. The work we do in North Devon relies on fundraising and we can only provide our essential care to local people thanks to the generosity of our community”
