Santa has a head start on deliveries in the Exeter area at least - as Acorn Recruitment has been busy delivering toys to children regionally with the help of local business JS Engineering.
Candidate Development Manager for Acorn’s Exeter branch, Matt Cocks, delivered gifts to be shared among children receiving care on the Bramble Ward of the Royal Devon and Exeter hospital this Christmas day, including donations of train sets, toy cars and board games.
The toys were collected as part of Acorn’s Send a Smile Christmas campaign, which asks its customers to bring new and unwrapped gifts to their local branch in the run up to Christmas, with JS Engineering South West proving particularly supportive in the process.
Cara Bennett, Play Specialist at the Royal Devon and Exeter hospital, said of the delivery: ‘‘We know that no child wants to spend Christmas Day in hospital but we want to do everything we can to make their day as enjoyable as possible regardless. We’re always grateful to receive donations like these, therefore, and to Acorn and their customers for their support in this instance.”
Acorn has over 25 years of experience providing recruitment services to the public sector and has been consistently listed within the top 15 agencies public sector services, and has seen first-hand how tirelessly NHS staff work to support sick children and their families.
Matthew said: ‘‘Acorn is very pleased to have motioned this appeal, we’re committed to the local community and value the incredible work our doctors and nurses do to take care of children all year long – but particularly during the festive season when many of us are able to wind down and celebrate.
“We hope the gifts will lift the children’s spirits, and a big thank you also to our client JS Engineering for their incredible contribution to the campaign.’’
