The UK left the EU on 31 January 2020 and is currently in a transition period which will end on 31 December 2020.
If you are a worker from the EU, it is important that you apply to the EU Settlement Scheme so you can continue living and working in the UK. You can apply for ‘Settled’ or ‘Pre-settled’ status to ensure that you can continue to live and work in the UK after Brexit transition period ends. The application process is free, quick and easy and more than 4 million EU workers have already successfully applied.
EU workers that are resident in the UK before 31 December 2020, will have until 30 June 2021 to apply but are encouraged to do so as soon as possible.
Settled status
‘Settled’ status will apply to you if you have been resident in the UK continuously for more than 5 years and ‘Pre-settled’ status will apply to you if have been resident in the UK for less than 5 years. The application process is the same for both ‘Settled’ and ‘Pre-settled’ status.
If you are granted ‘Settled’ status, you will be able to stay in the UK indefinitely.
Pre-settled status
If you’re granted ‘Pre-settled status’, you can stay in the UK for a further 5 years from the date your ‘Pre-settled’ status is granted.
