Acorn is recruiting for a Buyer to join our client based in Newport on an ongoing temporary basis, with the potential for the role to lead to a permanent post. The Buyer will support the Senior Buyer in delivering all the expected requirements of the procurement function to its internal customer and to the Supply chain Manager.
Key duties will include:
o Follow good housekeeping standards and work safely.
o Purchase materials and services from Approved Suppliers in line with procedures o Purchase engineering and expense items at optimum cost to the business.
o Negotiate contracts and optimize pricing.
o Develop suppliers to achieve company goals and objectives.
o Ensure 100% on time delivery to ensure and achieve maximum customer satisfaction
o Expedite purchase orders and measure Vendor on time performance.
o Analyse the MRP, and maintain Master data settings
o Production of purchasing schedules and orders to meet the production plan o General purchasing duties including supplier liaison and invoice clearing.
o Manage Inventory to achieve optimum stock turns
o Understand and follow all appropriate Company procedures.
o Visit suppliers to encourage and develop continuous improvement on costs / HSE and service.
o Carry out supplier audits in line with the quality schedule.
o Communicate with Planning, Production, Stores, Design and Quality departments.
o Manage new part introduction master data set up.
o Analyse and Monitor supplier spend.
o Assist the Global procurement team as required.
o Work to achieve company KPIs
