Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Finance Assistant based on the outskirts of Plymouth. You will be working for a leading, modern and friendly customer-focused company.

This is a temporary position, hours of work are Monday to Friday, 0800 - 1700. Great location to get to on public transport but on-site parking is also available.

Salary dependent on experience.

Responsibilities / requirements of the role

  • Assisting with weekly supplier payment runs
  • General filing of invoices and other maintenance of filing systems
  • General support to Financial Controller/Manager
  • Assisting with development of Finance policies and procedures
  • Flexible to the needs of the Finance department to support the company's fast paced growth
  • Ability to competently cover the daily tasks of the Accounts Receivable function at times of colleague leave / holiday
  • Sending of monthly statements to customers
  • Investigate and resolve customer invoice queries, both in receipt and pricing - which may involve liaising with colleagues
  • Raising of customer credit notes from Customer Services instructions
  • General filing of invoices and other maintenance of filing systems
  • General support to Financial Controller/Manager
  • Assisting with development of Finance policies and procedures
  • Flexible to the needs of the Finance department to support the company's fast paced growth
  • Ability to competently cover the daily tasks of the Accounts Payable function at times of colleague leave/holiday

Candidates will need to have experience of working as a Financial Assistant / Financial Administrator.

Skills required -

Essential:

  • Accurate, methodical and pays attention to detail
  • High degree of numeracy skills
  • Proficient IT literacy, including strong demonstrable MS Excel skills
  • Ability and willingness to learn how to use different software and systems
  • GCSE Maths and English (A* - C grades)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong personal organisation and efficiency
  • Ability to prioritise workloads to meet deadlines, and to perform under pressure if necessary
  • Ability and willingness to follow and develop work procedures
  • Previous experience of administration
  • Tech-savvy / computer literate
  • Commercially aware

Desirable:

  • Analytically minded
  • Experience using ERP systems
  • A knowledge of bookkeeping
  • Experience with Sage Line 50
