Environmental Lead - South East Wales

Acorn Recruitment is actively recruiting for an Environmental Lead for our global manufacturer and distributor.

Reporting to the Environmental, Health & Safety Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for all environmental compliance and will support health & safety standards to meet current legislation.

Key responsibilities will include:
*Management and supervision of the Environmental Management System and reporting on performance, ensuring continuous improvement is adhered to at all times. Lead the implementation of environmental policies and practices.
*Advise and oversee environmental compliance issues and environmental best practice and support tasks relating to health and safety.
*Co-ordinate environmental audits of the plant with regards to regulators, certification auditors, customers and others with regards to compliance and continuous environmental improvement.
*Ensure that environmental incidents are reported in the necessary timeframes and investigated in a timely manner with root causes and effective corrective actions completed and implemented.
*Co-ordinate the continuous environmental improvement process, organizing and running environmental project meetings, supporting improvement projects and maintaining relevant records.
*Liaise with the relevant Competent Authority with regards to environmental matters, relevant compliance, maintaining a regular and open working relationship with the regulator.
*Ensure procedures are put in place to deal with any foreseeable emergency situation relating to the environment and all trained personnel are aware.
*Collate environmental information to be able to produce a monthly report into the management team, EHS Plant Committee and the company's European divisions.
*Provide specialist advice on environmental matters to management and all levels of the plant as required, to support compliance and continuous improvement.
*Develop and implement, with support of EHS Manager, environmental strategies and action plans, to ensure sustainable development.

*Liaise with other regulators and agency with regards to environmental matters in the interests of legal compliance and continuous improvement.
*Maintain environmental records for the purpose of legal compliance and continuous improvement.
*Monitor environmental data proactively to detect areas of concern and focus prior to any pollution event and compliance issue arising.
*Promote and raise awareness at all levels of the organization of the impact of current and emerging environmental issues.
*Carry-out external and internal audits in line with the management system requirements.
*Participate in the monthly EHS Committees and act as Chairperson when required
*Support the EHS Manager, as required, on matters relating to health and safety such as risk assessments, incident investigations etc.
*Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops or classes, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, participating in professional societies.



To be considered for this role, Candidate must meet the following criteria:
*Degree in Environmental or relevant Sciences
*Certificate in Environmental Management (IEMA or equivalent)
*Minimum of 3-5 year's environmental management experience.
*NEBOSH (advantageous)
*Must have knowledge of the European Union regulatory process and regulations which will affect the companies' operation.
*Experience in environmental auditing (Lead Auditor qualified would be preferable)
*Understanding of management systems approach, ISO 14001, ISO 9001, 18001 (45001).
*Fully IT Literate to be able to complete all relevant tasks above.
