Acorn Recruitment is actively recruiting for a Safety, Health and Environmental Manager for our client who is a global metal refinery organisation.
Reporting to the Safety, Health and Environmental Manager based in the North Atlantic, this role is a pivotal role where you will be required to assist the Operations Manager with the day to day development and management of corporate and legislative requirements within the business such as COMAH regulations as well as the daily management of the safety, health & environmental team including security.
Overall requirements and responsibilities will include:
*Ensure systems are in place and implemented to minimise environmental impact of operations and efficiently manage any environmental issues that may arise.
*Encourage and improve where necessary awareness and understanding of hazards, risks and safe systems of work as the main focus and drive towards zero harm to all staff including contract worker and visitors to site.
*Develop and implement a robust strategy to execute ongoing regulatory compliance and enhance performance within the environmental, safety and occupational health management areas.
*Ensure that all Safety, Health and Environmental activities are in line with the organisations strategy and overall business objectives.
*Drive and promote daily the importance of Safety, Health and Environmental importance across the organisation.
*Monitor and action any changes in legislation and continually assess Safety, Health, Environment and Security policies and procedures and support auditors.
*Ensure the organisation complies with all Safety, Health & Environment security related statutory requirements, internal and external standards, Corporate guidelines and internal policies and procedures.
To be considered for this opportunity, applicants must be educated to at least degree level within a relevant discipline and have a strong and lengthy history within a Safety, Health & Environmental sector within a relevant Heavy Industry sector. Applicants must hold a NEBOSH certificate and ideally an equivalent certification such as IEMA in environmental Management. Applicants must be confident communicators and leaders in managing staff and implementing, educating and managing effective Safety, Health and Environmental requirements.
