Job Description
Newport City Homes. Big City. Big Heart. Big Plans.

Can you help them deliver?

Newport City Homes is a Welsh Housing Association with 10,000 properties within South East Wales. They serve 71% of Newport's social housing residents. In 2018, they delivered their first new-build homes, and they're expanding quickly. The last three years have been about change; understanding where they are, why they're here and what they need to do to deliver for the city of Newport. They are doing big things.

Some of their ambitions have already become a reality. Their first new-build homes were unveiled in 2018, providing safe, warm and welcoming spaces for Newport families. Their £10million Pillgwenlly regeneration scheme is set for completion and will help to tackle anti-social behaviour in one of the most deprived communities in Wales. Their finance arrangements are changing to make the most of their assets; people, homes and relationships - supporting them to build more homes and deliver their 2020 Vision. With 2795 new and affordable homes being needed in Newport within the next 5 years, there are two things firmly on the NCH agenda: challenge and change.

Things at NCH are changing. Are you up for the challenge?

Their ambition is to build 250 homes each year. It's a big task, and they are looking for an Executive Director of Development with big ambition to help them deliver.

About you

You have experience of taking forward a large scale, complex, multi tenured housing programme. With an eye for a commercial return, you'll make sure that their developments offer value for money, maximising the availability of grants and meeting the appropriate viability tests. You understand the contributions communities can make to development proposals; and how great design, innovative construction methods and environmental factors contribute to future sustainability. You work at pace and have the skills to manage their fantastic multi-skilled Regeneration & Development team - leading by example to make sure they're at the top of their game.

They don't just deliver homes for Newport, they deliver homes with Newport, working closely with their partners across the city and building meaningful relationships. They know that working together means they can make a greater impact in the City and beyond.

Reporting directly to our CEO, you'll be supported by our skills-based board and talented leadership team every step of the way.

The Opportunity

As a member of the Executive Team, you'll proactively lead the strategic and corporate direction of NCH in partnership with other senior managers and the board. You'll play a key role in the long term strategic development of Newport City Homes (NCH), so you'll need a demonstrable interest in Newport and social housing, although they welcome applications from further afield. You'll have the drive to empower colleagues to deliver the association's ambitious strategic framework.
