A rare opportunity in the Bridgwater area has arisen for a Financial Controller who is qualified within CA/ACCA/CIMA and has relevant experience of managing an Accounts department.

Hours of work:8:30 am to 5.00 pm, Monday to Friday (37.5 hours)

Summary of Position:

This role is primarily responsible for the accurate and timely production of the monthly management accounts. Be responsible for the day-to-day running of the Accounts Department, deputising for the Finance Director where appropriate.

Primary Responsibilities

-Overall responsibility for the month end process in terms of reviewing all the work of the team for accuracy and completeness, to include:
-Ensuring all control accounts have been correctly reconciled by the Accounts Assistants
-Prepare and post journals for work in progress and other month end adjustments
-Monthly stock reconciliation to include machines/raw materials/WIP
-Present Management Accounts (P&L and Balance Sheet) to FD for review to include analysis of budget variances, sales commentary and updated year end forecast ready for presentation at Management Meeting

Financial Accounts:

-Responsible for the Statutory Audit process for the UK and Parent company to include preparation of year end accounts in compliance with relevant legislation
-Manage the external audit liaising with the audit and tax managers where appropriate
Payment Runs:
-Perform initial review and upload payment runs (suppliers and Payroll) onto Internet Banking system

Accounts Department:

-Supervision of Accounts team
-Ensuring all finance processes are robust, fit for purpose and meet statutory and stakeholder requirements
-Support for a programme of continuous improvement in the department
-Provide support to the Finance Director on weekly tasks and monthly routines
-Deputize for the Finance Director where appropriate
-Prepare VAT (including deferment VAT), Intrastat and EC Sales Returns and supporting schedules ensuring deadlines are met
-Complete all returns as requested by Office of National Statistics
