Job Description

An opportunity to join an international Aerospace and Defence company as a Design Support Engineer for an initial 3 month contract, which is likely to be extended. As a Design Support Engineer in this company, you will be based in the Filton office. You will be involved in the development, deployment and support of process, method and tools for the Airframe Engineering organisation with the team at Filton.
Responsibilities:
  • Develop Process, Method and Tools (PM&T) initiatives directed towards engineering development, plant engineering & ramp up, standardization and quality, multi-component Assembly
  • Attend team meetings, review outstanding actions, representation at local and transnational meetings and forums etc
  • Participate in team specific initiatives including technical and collaboration activities
  • Perform Reactive/Proactive support, coaching and awareness sessions, benchmarks, validation and acceptance as well as performance tests of Process, Method and Tools for DE.PA
  • Identify Specific design Wing (SDW) needs in term of sizing and tool capabilities and promote new collaborative ways of working using the latest methodologies and tools (e.g. Virtual collaboration)
  • As requested or required, to participate in local/transnational agile project team for DE.PA Process Methods and Tools development
  • Work on Safe agile plateau as multi-skilled team member acting as focal / specialists for wing structure and Landing Gear directing activities as required
  • Transform Operational support activities (e.g. knowledge Management, e-ticket, Virtual agent and assistant)
  • Give specialist advice regarding process, methods & tools and support to the process operators (Engineers, Designers etc.)
  • Create and categorise PM&T documentation to update and complement the DE.PA referential (Instructions, Procedures, PSD's etc.)

Skills:
  • Autonomous, Self-empowered and Team Player
  • Extensive knowledge and experience in one of the following engineering toolsets
  • Design tools (e.g. Catia V5, 3DXperience, VPM, PDMLink/PASS)
  • Stress sizing and simulation tools (e.g. ISAMI)
  • Finite Element tools (e.g. Hyperworks, Patran/Nastran, Abaqus)
  • Experience in Configuration Management principles
  • Working in an Agile/DevOps environment preferred
  • Create and categorise PM&T documentation to update and complement the DE.PA referential (Instructions, Procedures, PSD's etc.)
