Job Description
Our client, based in South Wales, have a new vacancy for an Electrochemist to join their growing team.

The role is responsible to plan and conduct research to enable scale-up and optimisation of new products. The business have a stable MOD contract and are in the early development and production stages of the products manufacturing life-cycle so there is a huge opportunity to come into the business in this role and add real value.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES

*Plan and conduct experiments for R&D projects in line with agreed development plans
*Participate in scale-up and optimisation of new products ensuring a smooth transition of technology to field trials
*Support R&D trials of new products
*Evaluate raw materials, develop specifications and collaborate with Procurement to develop raw material supply
*Conduct risk assessments and COSHH assessments within R&D
*Liaise with third parties and strategic partners to deliver specific projects as required
*Develop a strong collaborative relationship with other internal functions fostering an environment of knowledge gathering and sharing
*Ensure adherence to company policies and procedures especially relating to product development and Health and Safety

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

*Have a degree qualification (BSc or PhD) in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or closely related field of study
*Experience of planning and conducting R&D projects using scientific principles to advance the development process would be advantageous
*Experience within Battery Industry would be advantageous
*Proven new product development experience taking novel concepts to commercial success.
*Experience utilising electrochemical techniques and chemical analysis
*A self-reliant, results orientated, energetic, flexible individual with a strong attention to detail and team working ethos
*Excellent verbal/written communication and interpersonal skills
