Job Description
An exciting opportunity has arisen in one of the largest, reputable, global companies based in Cosham, Portsmouth for a highly experienced Automation Engineer.

As an Automation Engineer, you will work within the R&D group to develop instrumentation, new technologies and automation on products and platforms for the Biopharmaceutical, Biotechnology and other markets.

Responsibilities

*You will be a valuable part of the organization by helping to develop automation from the early phase, managing specifications, design, industrialization, and transfer to manufacturing as part of a global multi-disciplinary product development team.
*You will apply your expertise by working with process experts to translate bioprocess requirements into automated system user requirements and functional specifications.
*You will cooperate with automation suppliers to review technical documents e.g. software design specifications and authoring documentation for internal audiences as well as end users.
*You will show your engagement in the project by defining what tests need to be performed on the automated system to meet the functional requirements then execute these test procedures.
*You will be contributing to the development of the company by providing ongoing expertise for technical problem-solving post launch and by collaborating with maintenance teams during development and assisting with generation of strong maintenance procedures.
Experience Required
*Minimum degree or equivalent in a relevant Engineering field or Computer Science degree with relevant automation experience.
*5+ years' experience in an industrial Automation Engineering or a relevant Product Design role.
*Proven track record of product development including management of outside contractors, automation architecture design, authorship of specifications, maintenance of appropriate documentation and ability to work within a global multi-disciplinary team.
*Demonstrated success in leadership including developing and executing project plans and reporting plans/results to management.

Competencies

*PLC and HMI programming (Siemens, Rockwell and Wonderware System Platform).
*Knowledge of industrial control panel design and electrical drawings.
*Knowledge or experience of building/designing SCADA systems.
*Knowledge or experience of building/designing batch control recipe managers according to ISA-88.
*Knowledge or experience of the biopharmaceutical industry and applicable security regulations for automated systems such as 21 CFR part 11.
*Experience with developing products for use in GMP environments including a working knowledge of GAMP 5 lifecycle management and development strategies.
*Familiarity with common communications protocols such as OPC-DA/UA and Modbus (serial and Ethernet).

Please note, that this role is for 12 months and will be paid weekly at a competitive rate.
