Job: Engineering Team Leader

Location: Barnstaple

Salary: Base + Shift premium

Type: Permanent, 36.75 hours per week

Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the Engineering Team Leader position is a key role at our clients manufacturing site which supports and drives the Engineering function to meet production expectations.

Working alongside another Engineering Team Leader you will be responsible for a skilled team of 18 Mechanical Engineers that help cover production and machine maintenance over a 7-day period across various shift patterns.

Hours of work

Rotating double day shift

Mon-Thurs, 0545am-1400pm and Fri 0545am-11.45am

Mon-Thurs, 1345pm-2200pm and Fri 11.30am-1730pm

Scope of the Role

  • Responsible for day to day maintenance engineering functions, work setting and planning for the engineering team.
  • Leading the team by coaching, supervising, communication, 1-2-1's, and running bi-weekly team meetings.
  • Foster a culture of urgency and champion continuous improvement for self and team, constantly striving to improve using Lean tools and techniques to increase the overall OEE of each work area
  • Manage and develop the engineering team to maximise the support given to Production to drive customer service and productivity.
  • Identify CI opportunities and generate the business case based on analysis of data (OEE, PPM, Engineering intervention logs, batch records)
  • Liaise with external companies to identify and implement new technologies

Experience Required

  • Experience within an engineering function within a manufacturing environment
  • 3 years hands on management/leadership experience
  • Experience of managing appraisals, time and attendance, team coaching, disciplinaries
  • Experience within a manufacturing/process engineering capacity
  • Excellent communication, organisation and interpersonal skills

Desirable:

  • Experience of Total Productive Maintenance (TPM)
  • Degree level education with engineering experience
  • Experience in a highly regulated environment
  • Green belt qualification
