Job description

Acorn by Synergie are excited to be recruiting an experienced Firmware Engineer for a progressive engineering company that provides monitoring and measurement solutions for the marine and utilities industries on a worldwide scale.

Scope of the role
Working in the Engineering Department as part of a multidisciplinary team from initial brief, design and development, testing and final manufacture and implementation of new and existing electronic systems and products

Main responsibilities include.
* Programming, debugging Microcontrollers (TI, ST, Nordic & PIC)
* Project documentation (Testing procedures, Design notes, Revision Tracking, Manuals)
* Testing designed systems and firmware
* Designing of the User interfaces for designed products
* Data analysis, post-processing of data collected
* PCB Design
* Soldering and Rework (desirable)
 Soldering station
 Hot Air Station
 Solder Paste Dispenser


Knowledge, skills and experience required:

Experience
Essential
* Proficient in programming languages (C/C++)
* Good understanding of common protocols used in microcontrollers (UART/SPI/I2C)
* Debugging and testing, using equipment like Oscilloscopes/Waveform Generators
* Understanding of Real-Time Operating Systems
* Version Control using Git
* Understanding of Data Types
* Knowledge of Microsoft including excel, word, outlook, office 365 and SharePoint
* Knowledge of Health, Safety, Environment and Quality procedures
Desirable
* Programming FPGA and Dual processor systems
* Designing Electronic circuits systems
* Simulation of the Electronic circuits
* Component stock levels, ordering for prototyping
* Soldering, rework and inspection

Education & Certification
* Minimum college level qualification
* Health and Safety qualification or training (desirable but not essential)
* Training provided
* Must drive due to location, client, and site visits
