Job description
Acorn by Synergie is recruiting on behalf of a Public Sector client for an Estates officer to work on a temporary basis for approximately 6 months.
As the Estates Officer you will have responsibility for the day-to-day operational management and supervision of the departments Engineering, Building and maintenance teams.
Duties include
- Manage and supervise both directly employed and contract staff working on a wide range of mechanical, electrical, building systems through the most efficient and effective means possible
- To communicate at all levels including senior managers, directors and staff; negotiate with specialist contractors.
- Ensure that all electrical work complies with prevailing regulations e.g. BS7671, 18th Edition Wiring Regulations, Electricity at Work Regulations 1989, Health and Safety at Work 1974 and related documents
To undertake other duties within the post holder's competency as may be required from time to time by the Estates Management Team.
- To manage minor works requests, including the preparation of minor works specifications, working drawings and quotations. Includes the supervision of any direct labour or contracted services subsequently involved in the delivery of minor works schemes on site, ensuring that the requirement of the Construction Design and Management regulations are adhered to at all times
- To participate in an 'On Call' system for Estates management staff, that enables a continual 24-hour rapid response to any emergency calls

Essential
- Degree or HNC/D in a relevant discipline or working towards with equivalent qualification/experience in the related discipline
- NEBOSH health & safety qualification or equivalent · Qualified in line with 18th edition electrical regulations.
- Experience of carrying out same or similar role.
37.5 hours per week - Also may be required to participate in the departments rostered emergency on call service
£14.33 - £19.10 per hour
