Job description
Acorn by Synergie are searching for a Maintenance Engineer to join their client, a global manufacturer based in Widnes, Cheshire.
Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, the purpose of the role is to ensure the smooth running of the factory by resolving breakdowns and delivering maintenance. The role also includes driving improvement across the site in terms of new machinery, quality and performance.
Duties will include:
* Reading and correctly interpreting engineering specifications, design drawings, operations manuals and manufacturer's instructions.
* Attending to breakdowns onsite ensuring rapid response resulting in plant equipment and machinery breakdown time is minimised.
* Carry out repairs to plant and equipment during production, effectively and efficiently either alone and/or as part of a team.
* Identifying incorrect equipment operation and locating sources of error. Observing equipment in operation and by selecting and using appropriate test and measurement instruments.
* Making running adjustments to parts of devices and control instruments to ensure correct function
* Deliver on plant uptime and maintenance KPI's through planned, preventative and predictive maintenance.
* Liaise effectively with external contractors.
The successful candidate must be a time served maintenance technician with previous, related industrial maintenance experience. Hold a HNC or equivalent in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
Required knowledge, skills and experience
Machine shop skills (lathes, drilling, grinders, milling machines)
Fabrication shop skills (sheet metalwork bending and forming, welding, hand felting/grinding, painting)
Mechanical installation and fitting - machines fixing in location, levelling and alignment, machine sub-assembly and mechanical modification
Electrical installations and wiring - practical familiarity with European and international standards and installation practice
Practical knowledge of pneumatics, hydraulics and electrical/electronic motion control systems. Specific experience with troubleshooting and repairing motors and drives.is essential. Specific experience with Allen Bradley motor drives is desirable.
Practical experience with industrial robotics - Specific expertise with FANUC SCARA robots and multi-axis palletizing robots is desirable.
Shift pattern is 4 on 4 off (x2 12 hour days and x2 12 hour nights)
