Acorn secures Cyber Essentials PLUS accreditation

As cybercrime becomes more prominent, Acorn, one of the UK's leading recruitment and training agencies, demonstrates their dedication to protecting their company against cyber threats.

Having retained the Cyber Essentials badge earlier in the year, Acorn has now taken the next step to achieve the Cyber Essentials PLUS accreditation, signalling their ongoing commitment to ensuring their IT systems are protected.

To achieve this higher level, multi-specialist recruiter Acorn was assessed by an external certifying body to ensure they met the required standard of clarity on good basic cyber security practice, which ultimately protects them against common cyber-attacks.

Andrew Tugwell, Group Operations Director for Acorn, said: "ensuring that all of our data and information security is protected is paramount. To show our commitment in defending ourselves against such cyber threats we wanted to achieve the PLUS badge to provide us, our workforce, clients and jobseekers with a more advanced level of assurance."

Developed by central government at Westminster, the Cyber Essentials scheme provides a clear statement of the basic controls all organisations should implement to mitigate the risk from common internet based threats. Introduced in June 2014, the scheme is part of an increasing government interest in improving the state of the UK's cybersecurity.

Such schemes are essential for leading businesses like Acorn to demonstrate their commitment to protecting their customers. In 2015, Acorn became, and continues to be a Stronger Together business partner, demonstrating the group's ongoing commitment to tackling modern slavery, and Acorn's Training Division recently retained The Matrix Standard; a three-year accreditation which is a unique quality framework and benchmark for training providers to assess and measure their course material, information, advice and guidance services.

Acorn places up to 6,500 people into the workplace with around 1,200 different clients each week. The group also delivers training to more than 1,000 individuals each month and makes 1,700 permanent placements every year.
