Job Description
Acorn Rail operates as the UK's specialist Rail Division of Synergie (the 5th largest recruiter in Europe) and provides permanent, contract and temporary recruitment within the rail industry. We are looking for a Quantity Surveyor to join our Rail team at an exciting period of growth & development.

As an Assistant Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for:

- Notifying variations where applicable for reimbursement and achieving Employer instructions.
- Working with colleagues to review design development to ensure economic design solutions that meet Client expectations and budget.
- Assisting with the subcontract procurement process - preparation of procurement schedules, tender packages, tender reconciliations, and subcontract documents.
- Analysis of subcontract scopes, tender quotations, and cost negotiation.
- Assisting with the preparation and agreement of all monthly project interim and final account.
- Preparing, negotiating, and agreeing subcontractor and client variations.
- Complying with strict process and contractual requirements for instructions, change notices, and formal contractual notices as required.
- Recognising potential contractual issues on site and make good records including photographs and written statements to protect the company's interests.
- Keeping accurate, relevant records including records of plant on/off hire, records of labour hours and numbers, records of any potential client contra charges, etc.
- Assisting in ensuring sub-contract accounts are managed within budget and sub-contracts/final accounts are signed and agreed in a timely manner.

The successful candidate must have:

- HNC / D or degree in Quantity Surveying.
- Experience working as a Quantity Surveyor with a Main Contractor.
- Experience, but not essential, of working with NEC contracts.
- Experience working on rail projects.
- Experience working on projects from inception to completion.
- Good communication and client facing skills.
- Good IT skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Full UK driving license.
