Job description

We are currently recruiting on behalf of our client in Port Talbot for an Industrial Cleaning Charge Hand for an on-going project.

The main function for this position is to deliver daily management of industrial cleaning, Team Members, equipment management, auditing and inspections. The Charge hand is required to manage daily scheduled tasks within a satisfactory time scales and be flexible to work maintenance periods and move around sites as required. Flexibility and good people management, good computer skills will be key to success in this role. A CCNSG Site Safety Passport or IOSH Managing Safely qualification is required for this position, and the successful candidate will be subject to a pre-employment substance abuse test.

Duties & responsibilities include:

  • To ensure that a consistently high standard of service is delivered in accordance with the work schedule to ensure SLA's are achieved.
  • To ensure all site personnel are complying with customer's service/satisfaction systems.
  • Ensuring through a good maintenance programme that plant equipment is available.
  • Build, track and report near misses

Management tasks include:

  • Allocate tasks to operatives, by experience, ability and skill level.
  • To monitor the performance of operatives to ensure high standards are delivered and maintained.
  • To communicate Company information to operatives.
  • To ensure that the Company Health and Safety Policy is properly implemented and adhered to in addition to specific client requirements.
  • Ensure all operatives comply with Safe Working Practices as directed by Standard Operating Systems/Procedures Work Method and Risk Assessment.
  • Attend any disciplinary process as required

Administrative responsibilities:

  • To liaise over manning, equipment and machinery requirements.
  • Complete administration tasks as required.
  • To ensure that all Company Policies and Procedures are fully implemented, adhered to and communicated.
  • Advise and assist in the preparation and review of Standard Operations Systems/Procedures, Risk, Manual Handling and COSHH assessments.
  • Assist in completion of all documentation as required by Quality/Health and Safety and Environmental/Management Systems.

Key skills include the ability to communicate in a clear and concise manner to team members, senior managers and client, commitment to delivery of excellent customer service, be self-motivated and able to motivate staff, capable of identifying and implementing quality improvements, assist performance of staff and implement training actions to rectify, the ability to implement company policy and safe working practices, and manage daily scheduled tsks.
