Culture and Events Development Officer

Hourly Rate: £17.79
Working Pattern: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Saturday, and Sunday (Flexibility required for Monday-Friday working)
Location: Bristol

We are seeking a proactive and creative Culture and Events Development Officer to help deliver an exciting programme of cultural activities and events that animate our high streets, celebrate Bristol's diversity, and support the city's cultural and economic recovery.

This role requires flexibility, with regular weekend work as part of a seven-day operational schedule. Your core working days will be Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Saturday, and Sunday, but there will be flexibility with weekday scheduling to accommodate programme needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Programme Delivery: Plan and deliver cultural activities and events that:

    • Increase footfall on high streets.

    • Enhance local identity and increase dwell time.

    • Celebrate Bristol's diverse communities through inclusive and accessible events.

    • Support employment opportunities within the culture and events sector.

    • Embed environmental sustainability and address the climate and ecological emergency.

  • Market & City Centre Activation:

    • Develop and manage a programme of markets and cultural activities supporting St Nicholas Market and Broadmead.

    • Work closely with cultural organisations, businesses, creatives, and other stakeholders to boost visibility and engagement.

  • Strategic Contribution:

    • Support city recovery strategies aimed at reanimating high streets and city centre spaces.

    • Help ensure cultural opportunities are open to all residents.

  • Project & Stakeholder Management:

    • Provide expert advice and support to individuals, groups, and organisations to deliver successful cultural projects.

    • Facilitate stakeholder consultation and manage partnerships both within and outside Bristol City Council.

  • Contract & Data Management:

    • Monitor project delivery, budgets, and contracts.

    • Collect and present data to evaluate and report on the social and economic impact of cultural activities.

  • Customer Service & Council Values:

    • Uphold excellent customer service standards and reflect Bristol City Council's core values and behaviours in all aspects of the role.
