We are looking for experienced HDV Drivers

You will be responsible for safely and efficiently transporting waste and recyclable materials to and from the centre. This includes operating the vehicle, ensuring it's loaded and unloaded properly, and maintaining it in accordance with safety regulations. The role may also involve some manual handling and communication with customers and colleague.

Key Responsibilities:

• Vehicle Operation:
• Driving and operating a designated HGV to transport waste and recycling materials.
• Loading and Unloading:
• Assisting with the loading and unloading of materials, potentially using lifting mechanisms or operating compactors.
• Route Management:
• Planning and executing the most efficient routes for collections and deliveries, considering factors like traffic, road conditions, and site access.
• Safety and Compliance:
• Conducting daily vehicle checks, adhering to all safety regulations and company policies, and maintaining accurate records.
• Communication:
• Interacting with waste collection crews, site supervisors, and potentially customers regarding collections, deliveries, and any issues that arise.
• Vehicle Maintenance:
• Maintaining the cleanliness and tidiness of the vehicle's interior and exterior, and reporting any necessary repairs.
• Manual Handling:
• Assisting with the movement and sorting of materials, including some manual handling tasks.
• Customer Service:
• Providing assistance and information to the public regarding waste and recycling procedures, as needed.
• Site Supervision:
• In some roles, supervising other workers, directing traffic within the recycling centre, and ensuring compliance with site procedures.

Requirements:

• Valid HGV Licence: A full UK driving license with the relevant HGV entitlement is essential.
• Physical Fitness: The ability to perform manual handling tasks and work in a physically demanding environment.
• Communication Skills: Good communication and interpersonal skills are important for interacting with colleagues and customers.
• Safety Awareness: A strong understanding of health and safety regulations and the ability to work safely.
