Manufacturing Quality Team Leader

Bridgwater | Up to £40k plus bonus | Monday-Thursday, 8am-4.30pm, Friday 8am-1pm | Permanent


Introduction

Acorn by Synergie is seeking a proactive and experienced Manufacturing Quality Team Leader to oversee quality assurance processes and lead a team of quality professionals. This role requires strong leadership, analytical thinking, and a commitment to continuous improvement within the engineering and manufacturing industry.


Key Duties

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of Quality Operatives, Technicians, and Engineers.
  • Drive a culture of quality and continuous improvement across the organisation.
  • Monitor and report on key quality metrics and team performance.
  • Ensure compliance with internal standards, customer requirements, and regulatory guidelines.
  • Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with production, engineering, and supply chain teams.
  • Facilitate audits (internal, customer, and regulatory) and manage follow-up actions.
  • Develop and maintain quality documentation, including SOPs, work instructions, and inspection plans.
  • Lead and manage projects as required.

Requirements

  • Experience managing and leading a team.
  • Experience working in a Quality role within a manufacturing environment.
  • Higher National Diploma or equivalent.
  • Relevant auditing experience.
  • Leadership & Team Management skills, including coaching, mentoring, conflict resolution, and performance management.
  • Performance & Results Orientation, with a data-driven mindset focused on KPIs and continuous improvement.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels.
  • Strong technical and analytical skills, including knowledge of quality tools and methodologies (e.g., Six Sigma, Lean, FMEA, SPC).
  • Proficiency in quality management systems (QMS) and relevant software.
  • Experience with ISO standards or industry-specific regulations (e.g., AS 9100, ISO 9001, IATF 16949).
  • Proficient in conducting internal and supplier audits globally for training, supplier audits, customer visits, and site inspections.
