This October, our Acorn colleagues donned their green t-shirts for Macmillan in a bid to walk over 100 miles in all weathers throughout the month to raise money for Macmillan. We are proud to say that between them the team raised over £1300 beating our original target by over £300.
Macmillan is Acorn’s charity of the year for 2021, and we are proud to support such a worthy charity which is dedicated to helping people with cancer live their lives as fully as possible.
Founded in 1911, Macmillan has grown to be the UK’s leading source of cancer support, helping to ensure the experience of cancer is continually improved. Some of the services include physical, emotional and financial support, and an online community for people living with cancer to share experiences.
We would also like to say a big thank you to everyone that donated and helped us smash our target to support people living with cancer. With the money raised it could pay for a Macmillan Nurse for over 41 hours, helping people living with cancer receive the support they need.
In total, for the 100 miles for Macmillan in October challenge a whopping £606,548.53 was raised by supporters of the charity nationwide.
Acorn’s MD, Bernard Ward said “I’m so proud of the team, it’s been wonderful to see our Acorn colleagues from across the country getting involved, and pushing themselves to help make a difference. Macmillan really is a wonderful charity which helps so many people, and we’re glad to support in any way we can.”
