Acorn, a specialist recruitment and training agency in the North West, has partnered with the WODAC Warrington Open Door at Christmas initiative and other charities across the UK to raise awareness and collect items for those affected by homelessness.
Throughout December, we have been inviting staff, clients and candidates to donate items such as warm clothes and toiletries, and here in the North West, our Widnes Branch has chosen the charity initiative the WODAC Warrington Open Door at Christmas, who provides support to the homeless, lonely and vulnerable.
Executive Search Consultant for Acorn in the North West, Hayley Cooke, said: “Assisting those affected by homelessness is something we at Acorn feel very passionately about. I have seen first-hand how important these donations can be and I’m therefore delighted to be able to raise awareness for the work that the WODAC and other charities do, both at Christmas and throughout the rest of the year.
“We’ve been speaking to as many people as possible, including our families, friends, the businesses we recruit for and of course, our jobseekers. We’ve been thrilled with the sheer amount of donations we’ve received from people in the local community, including some very generous contributions from one of our valued clients; Freeway UK Insurance Services Ltd.”
She added: “As a leading recruitment agency, we work with charities and initiatives all over the country to encourage and support anyone who wants to get back into work, and I’m proud to be able to make a difference.”
Gina Wright, volunteer for WODAC, said: “We’ve celebrated 25 years of supporting those in need and we do this in three ways; providing a hot meal, warm clothes and companionship. Therefore, we are always delighted with the support we receive from businesses in the local area and couldn’t be more thrilled with the donations received from Acorn to-date.”
