Acorn, one of the UK's leading recruitment and training agencies has joined forces with Admiral as part of their Young Leaders Programme.
Run by our specialist Training Division, Acorn's Young Leaders programme runs from November to January with a cohort, aged 14 - 19 taking part.
For the first few weeks, students learn about developing as a leader and developing individually as part of a team. The programme has been designed so that learners will secure an Institute of Learning and Management, Level 2 qualification.
Towards the end of the programme, the cohort visit either Admiral or John Lewis in Cardiff to hear directly from Managers. This year, nine young people spent two days in Ty Admiral, hearing about leadership from some of the company's Senior Managers.
Attendees were given a tour of Admiral's offices and given an overview of what the company does as a business and how they develop their Managers. Students also spent time listening in to conversations with customers. At the end of the visit, the cohort had to complete a quiz about what they had learnt and present back to our group of managers on that all important question: what are the qualities that make a great leader?
Amy Evans, one of Acorn's Quality Co-ordinators, said: "Our Young Leaders thoroughly enjoyed their time at Admiral. We found the company to be amazing hosts and our cohort is still talking about their visit even now!
"Our Young Leaders hope to implement the things they have learnt into their own manager practice and some are itching to come back for more - thank you Admiral."
Lewis Williams, a member of this year's Young Leader Programme, said: "This work experience gave me a taste of what it is like to work in a fun and encouraging environment."
Lewis Williams, said: "I would like to go back in the future because they have opened my eyes on where I would like to work in the future. There was not a part of the experience I didn't enjoy - great experience!"
Elliott Gingell, added: "The placement was run brilliantly. Admiral is a unique place to go and see. Every part of the experience was amazing and it made me want to work there."
