Previously the Managing Director for Waitrose and Deputy Chairman of the John Lewis Partnership, Lord Price will share his 30 years' experience of managing employees within leading UK-wide companies with guests at the high profile event.
The awards, which have been created by the Wales HR Network in partnership with Acorn, one of the UK's leading specialist recruitment and training agencies and commercial law firm Darwin Gray, are being held on the 23rd of March at The SSE SWALEC, Cardiff. The awards will recognise and celebrate the achievements of HR professionals up and down the country.
Lord Price began his career with the John Lewis Partnership, joining in 1982 as a graduate trainee. He held a number of posts before becoming Managing Director (MD) of Waitrose in April 2007. In August 2013, alongside his Waitrose MD role, Lord Price was also made Deputy Chairman of the John Lewis Partnership.
Speaking about his attendance, Lord Price said: "I’m absolutely delighted to have been asked to speak at the inaugural Wales HR Awards.
“Working in HR is incredibly challenging and we often find ourselves dealing with complex or emotive issues which can be a thankless task, so it’s great to have a whole event dedicated to recognising and celebrating excellence in HR.
"Creating a happy working environment and encouraging effective employee engagement is essential for the success of our businesses, so I will be sharing my thoughts and opinions from my book ‘Fairness for all’, which includes six steps to Workplace Happiness, in hope to provide some key inspiration to all attendees.”
Acorn’s Head of Marketing, Sarah Jones said: “To have a speaker of Lord Price’s calibre is truly testament to the importance of recognising HR professionals throughout Wales. We’ve had some great nominations in already, and we’re expecting many more before the 31st January deadline, so it will be wonderful for Lord Price and all attendees to see such inspirational Welsh talent.”
Fflur Jones, Head of Darwin Gray’s Employment Law and HR department, added: “Even though it is only the first HR Awards, there is already a real buzz around the event and we are sure that the presence of Lord Price will act as an additional incentive to anyone interested in attending.”
